Joe takes a look at the past year and a bit of writing articles for suite101.com.

I realized yesterday that it has been well over a year now since I started work as the feature writer for British History here at Suite101.com, and I thought it was time to take stock of everything I've done.

Since I started, I have written 65 articles (Actually, 64 as The 1953 Mt Everest Expedition was written by my wife). By far the most popular article I have written is The Anglo-Saxon Warrior. In fact, this article has been viewed over twice as much as any of my other articles. In distant second place is King Harold Godwinson.

The article that has been the biggest surprise to me, and is the fourth most viewed article, is General Cornwallis. Although a secondary historical figure, Conrwallis was a part of several interesting parts of British History.

I've spent a lot of time over the last few months writing about the early days of British History, the coming of the Romans and the Romano-British/Anglo-Saxon Wars. In the main these articles have not proved popular. This is no great surprise. I know this early period is not typically studied in great detail and has less popular interest. Still, a few people have taken an interest. In fact, I have just received an email from the Worthington Archeology Society asking if they can reprint my article, The Saxon Kingdoms in their newsletter.

Writing for Suite101 has been great fun and I'm learning a lot as I go along. I hope my readers are as well. Looking ahead, I plan to leave the Dark Ages behind for a while and focus on history that is a little closer to the present. I've got several articles coming up about Victorian Britain that I hope you will enjoy.

Thanks for reading.
